We use ours in homeschooling, but the series would be equally effective for a classroom-educated student if the student were needing additional practice in particular areas. As a riverboat pilot, Sam saved young Hank from the crushing paddle wheels as the boy stowed away on the City of Memphis. Since this story took place in LA, the rest of the main characters weren't mentioned much. Percy's Mission is one of Jerry's best - 5 out of 5 in my opinion but then all of the rest of his stories would rate similar numbers.
