The reader will like those friends, and, like them, he or she will like Kaitlin. I loved watching their characters develop and deepen. The book is also broad enough in its coverage of the events and culture of Chicago that in many ways it transcends just baseball and should be enjoyable for anyone interested in the history of the city during that period. Hopefully, it will serve as a wake-up call for those who will not open their eyes either by design or default.
